S. Vennila

S. Vennila was born and raised in Bengaluru as the youngest of four siblings, growing up with two brothers and one sister. Her deep-rooted connection with the city and its communities has shaped her sense of civic responsibility. She is married and has a 12-year-old son.

Vennila has amassed over 22 years of professional experience in the travel and tourism industry. She has worked with prominent organisations such as SriLankan Holidays and Heading South, as well as other leading travel agencies in Bengaluru. Her broad experience covers visa services, domestic and international tourism, travel operations, customer service, travel consultancy, and travel advisory services. She is professionally trained in Global Distribution Systems (GDS), including Amadeus, Abacus, and Galileo, equipping her with expertise in travel reservations, ticketing, and international travel operations.

Her career has fostered strong skills in leadership, communication, customer relationship management, operations, and problem-solving. Later, she established herself as an entrepreneur in the travel industry.

Vennila's civic leadership journey began when she joined the Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) and underwent grassroots-level civic leadership training on 19 July 2025 as part of the B.CLIP programme. After her training, she became actively engaged in community-level initiatives as a B.CLIP Civic Leader representing Ward No. 1, Ramaswamy Palya, Bengaluru.

Her work focuses on identifying and resolving issues affecting residents by engaging with relevant authorities. Key areas of her civic action include improvements to roads and footpaths, waste management, public sanitation and toilets, public transport, street-level infrastructure, women's empowerment, and overall community welfare. She advocates for leadership that means not only raising complaints but also being present on the ground, listening to citizens, and collaborating toward solutions.

Vennila is a proactive supporter of women's empowerment, livelihood opportunities, and the greater participation of women in public life. She has played a role in initiatives supporting women auto drivers, community development, and encouraging women's financial independence and involvement in society.

Vennila was nominated for the South India Women Achievers Awards (SIWAA) 2026 in recognition of her contribution to social impact, civic leadership, and women's empowerment. She was also featured in the July 2026 edition of Femme Times under #herstorymatters, honored as Best Social Activist and B.CLIP Civic Leader for Ward No. 1, Ramaswamy Palya.

Vennila believes that meaningful change begins when citizens take responsibility for their communities. Her inspiring journey from travel industry professional to grassroots civic leader reflects her dedication to using her skills and leadership to serve society. Her vision is to create a cleaner, safer, more inclusive, and better-governed Bengaluru, inspiring more women and citizens to actively participate in civic life.
